Sometimes I think I'm a paranoid parent. Other times I don't think I'm paranoid enough. Sound familiar? As a mother to three children who are rapidly approaching the teen years (oye), I've got a lot of built-in and built-up angst about something I spend most of my time staring at for my job:
The Internet.
Those two words look so innocent don't they? And yet the potential for pain and suffering is only a couple click clicks away. See, told you I was paranoid.
Yet in my latest perusing of said Internet, I discovered a couple great sites developed for protecting children from online predators and the like. WiredWithWisdom and WebWiseKids offer a range of services and products geared towards helping parents as they train their kids to navigate through the wilds of the world wide web. I encourage you to check them out as well as a great article I discovered in Today's Christian Woman, "A Mom's Guide to MySpace" by Connie Neal.
Turns out we don't have to be paranoid parents to be good parents; we just need to be prepared.
Jenn,
